WordPress Themes for a Yoga Studio Website: What to Look For

How to choose a premium WordPress Theme for your Yoga Studio Business Website

Free WordPress themes seem like a good deal when you first set up a blog; however, if you’re like me, you’ll start researching the premium theme designers quickly.

Why did I start looking into, and in due course purchasing a premium WordPress themes?  Because at the end of the dayI favored the uncomplicated customization, refined look and feel, and the support (usually in the form of a forum). I bought and buy premium WordPress themes because of the enhanced styling and the forum support.  Little did I realize that becoming familiar with premium themes would be so beneficial for quickly being able to create successive sites and blogs.

When looking for a premium WordPress theme, ask yourself the following questions

1.  What licensing limitations come with the WordPress theme?

Be sure when you purchase or download a WordPress theme that there are no modification limitations.  You want absolute freedom with what you do with the theme.

If you don’t know CSS or php, the most essential factor to look into is the ease to modify the theme.

If you can’t tell from the theme’s website how much you can modify a theme without knowing any coding, contact the theme developer and inquire.

2.  Thinking of purchasing a poorly coded theme?  Think twice.

A lot of free WordPress themes are poorly coded.  Chances are you can’t distinguish good from bad code unless you know coding yourself.  That’s an additional reason to buy a premium theme from reputable WordPress theme provider.

Before you buy a theme, unless explicitly stated on the premium theme’s website, inquire whether the theme is W3 code conforming.  W3 is the World Wide Web Consortium that develops web standards.

3.  If you would like a site set up promptly, look for a theme that already looks and functions the way you want your site.

Perhaps you’re not interested in changing the style of a theme, and rather require a theme that is ready to use.  If this is the situation, then all you need to do is shop around until you discover the theme that’s perfect for you.  Luckily there are many good premium theme providers (see a short list at the end of this post).

4.  Some detailed functions you should think about before purchasing a theme are as follows:

  • Are there drop-down menus?

  • Are categories on a top navigation menu bar?

  • Is it a 1, 2, 3, 4 or more columned theme?

  • Although font is relatively easy to modify, do you like the font used by default (the fewer revisions required, the better because you save time).

  • Typically images, videos, and slide shows you see in example themes aren’t included.  Therefore, if you want a similar look and feel, you’ll have to add your own images, videos, and slide show.  Review the theme details to find out how straightforward it is to add images, video, and/or slide show(s).

  • Does it have auto-size thumbnail management?  Auto-size thumbnail management automatically resizes images into thumbnails at the top of each post.  This is a very nice feature that enhances the style of any blog post.

5.  Is the theme widget ready?

Widgets significantly improve a WordPress website’s functionality and customization options.  This means you definitely need a theme that is “widget ready.”  “Widget ready” means the theme is developed to instantly accomodate widgets.  I wouldn’t buy a theme that isn’t widget ready.

6.  Is it quick and easy to modify the header and/or logo?

Some themes enable you to basically upload your header from the options panel.  Other themes require you upload your header through your hosting service file manager.  It’s simpler and faster through an options panel; however, it never hurts to get accustomed with uploading files through your domain host.

7.  Does the WordPress theme come pre-loaded with color combinations?

Some themes offer a variety of color choices; other themes have one color option.  This is a personal choice since its a stylistic decision.  The point is to know that you can find some theme provider that offer several color options such as Woo Business Themes.

8.  Is forum support included?

Be sure to look into the type and quality of support provided with a theme purchase.

I’ve never purchased a theme from a WordPress theme developer that didn’t have a forum.  The fact is I’ve never had to e-mail any theme developer; instead I’ve had all my issues fixed through the forum.  Don’t undermine the significance of an excellent forum.

9.  Does it provide the functionality you need?

Before buying a theme, especially if it’s your first theme purchase, give your website needs some thought.  Visit other websites and play around on them so you hone your needs.  Then when you find a theme that you like, navigate the demo and ask yourself “does the theme do what you need it to do?”

10.  How much should you spend on a premium theme?

WordPress themes vary in cost from free to several hundred dollars.  The premium themes range from $10 to $130.  However, this price should include unlimited use on unlimited websites.  When you compare that cost to the price of employing someone to construct a website for you, it’s a trifling amount.
