It’s really interesting to watch how yoga is being integrated with all kinds of fitness regimens and therapies. Some yogis don’t like it. Other yogis don’t care. And then some yogis are all about yoga expanding and being embraced by more people, even if the form changes.
The latest yoga hybrid style is called Fizzy Yoga, derived from physiyoga.
What is it?
It’s a hybrid of yoga and physiotherapy that incorporates meditative breathing, physio adjustments and yoga poses. Kim Cattrall is the latest celebrity doing this type of yoga practice
In a nutshell fizzy yoga incorporate physiotherapy exercises within a yoga routine. The mix is primarily for people recovering from injury and/or are susceptible to re-injury. It’s bringing mindfulness to physical therapy.
Interestingly, more and more physiotherapists are becoming yoga teachers are marrying the two. While I’ve never done fizzy yoga, I have no doubt that the combination is good. Check out Physiyoga.ca and yoga physio as examples of 2 studios offering physi-yoga.
