Developing and Teaching Your Own Yoga Style

Go the route of Power Yoga, Anasura Yoga, and YogaFit to name a few and create your own unique yoga style.

Advantages to developing and teaching your own yoga style:

  • easy to expand / franchise,
  • can bring in partners,
  • transcends geography,
  • if you’re successful, you gain added credibility which may help with book and DVD deals, other product deals, and being feature faculty at retreats, seminars, conferences, etc.
  • create demand (niche style) which may fetch higher prices,
  • opportunity to create a high-profile teacher training school,
  • students don’t mind if other qualified teachers teach them (don’t necessarily expect you to teach all the classes),
  • low demand for a unique name on the search engines so with good branding results, you can achieve excellent search engine ranking.

Disadvantages to developing and teaching your own yoga style:

  • may cut yourself off from teaching other types of popular styles (it’s not inconceivable to teach multiple styles including a style you create),
  • requires lots of branding effort – it’s a huge undertaking,
  • may invest lots of time and money into developing the style and marketing which may not work,
  • low or no initial demand for searches on the internet. Until demand is established (through branding), you may not have lots of search demand (unless you build a great content Web site),
